The realm of pre-med and health sciences is a broad universe to explore. Here are some summer opportunities to help you get started:


Introduction to Cognitive Science, Cornell College, Ithaca, New York (online only)


Who can apply?

  • High school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, and at least 15 years old.

What will they learn?

  • Cognitive science integrates work from at least five disciplines: Psychology, Neuroscience, Computer Science, Linguistics, and Philosophy. This course introduces students to the insights these disciplines offer into the workings of the mind by exploring visual perception, attention, memory, learning, problem-solving, language, and consciousness.

Introduction to Experimental Psychology Summer High School Programs, Boston University, Boston, MA


Who can apply?

  • Rising Juniors and Seniors

What will they learn?

  • Conduct observational and experimental research

  • Learn research design and data collection

  • Perform data analysis and create impactful visualizations

  • Attend presentations of ongoing, cutting-edge research by BU faculty and professionals

  • Interact with undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdocs who are working in the psychological sciences

  • Build their communication skills

Veterinary Medicine: Science and Practice Pre-college Program, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York (online only)


Who can apply?

  • Students must be at least 15 years of age on or before the start of class and must be a sophomore, junior, or senior at the time they apply. A strong background in Honors/AP Biology is highly recommended.

What will they learn?

  • The course serves as an introduction to the science and practice of veterinary medicine. Aspects of anatomy and physiology, and their clinical applications along with introducing other clinical specialties will provide insight into the knowledge that supports the practice of veterinary medicine. Content will also offer insight into the diversity of career options available in this and related fields. Study will be at the level of introductory undergraduate course material.

Future Physicians, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA


Who can apply?

  • Students must be age 17 or older by June 19, 2023 (no exceptions).

What will they learn?

  • Shadow physicians at Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles (CHLA), a highly ranked national training and clinical research institution

  • Hear from physician guest speakers, with past topics including admissions to medical school, life as a doctor, medical specialities, the varied paths to becoming a physician, and more

  • Spend the morning with a surgeon and their physician assistant to learn the basics of suturing

  • Connect with USC medical students and USC undergraduate pre-med students to gain insight and advice on getting into college, and entering medical school
