It may seem strange that I am writing about the summer while we are still in the thick of winter, but my one big learning over the 19 years as a College Consultant is that it’s all about planning. If you are playing a catch-up game, you have to be ready for the stress that it accompanies. Of course, there are people who thrive and do remarkably well in that environment – my high school freshman, for instance (who I hope is not reading this post!). But not for me. Maybe it’s life lessons, wisdom, or simply age. But I’d rather be ahead of the game; take my time to plan, organize and strategize. In that spirit, I’d like to share a few summer programs over the next few weeks that may be a good fit for teenagers. Please note that this is not a comprehensive list and that there are other activities that you can pursue instead, including research, pursuing a passion project, and getting an internship/job. But if you are curious about a pre-college summer program, you are welcome to start here. This week we will discuss Business programs.
